What your boyfriend is telling you is true. He does think that you are beautiful, you are the one who is being a bit self conscious. If you really don't want to have anal sex then by all means, do not go against any of your own personal decisions, but on the other hand, anal sex is not "that bad" if it's done correctly between two caring partners.
In fact it can bring a very intense orgasm to the giver as well as the receiver.
