I think the next batman is going to be seriously lacking without Heath ledger.

true, but the joker isn't exacly a character that ALWAYS shows up! batman, on the other hand, DOES. yes, heath ledger's joker was fan-fucking-tabulous, but he wasn't fully necessary for the next film! now, if they were gonna make a six movie series, i would think the character (unfortunately not the actor, may god rest his soul....) would return, along with catwoman and possibly bane (if he doesn't die in the next film) by breaking out....

Oh I honestly am giddy with excitement, loved the first 2 and Chris Nolan has yet to make a bad movie IMO.
