Age is a mental gauge of maturity. I had a 5 year relationship, and we're still very close, with a woman 14 yrs older and have had relationships with woman 12 yrs younger; and in between. What I'm saying, and probably what anyone else have said, it's all in your head. If you 2 get along, that's all that matters. Watch the movie called "Harold and Maude" made in the early 70's; if you can find it. It is a surprisingly funny and can still be relatable today. The age difference in it is a bit extreme but the point is still there. Age is a number not a barrier.

My husband is only 22, but the guy I was dating before him was 29, I personally don't find "older" men to be that appealing, what I mean by older is guys in their 40's and so on...... If the guy is old enough to be my dad, nahh...ain't tapping that.

I tend to not date anyone younger than my sister which is 3 years. or anyone 3 years older than me. I just feel like if we go over that age range we have nothing in common.

Tonekay · and also I wouldn't feel right dating someone younger than my youngest sibling.

Don't forget to take age and situation into count. When I was 16 is fell in love with a 13 year old girl. Trust me: huge gap. Two years (18 - 15) later we were pretty sure we were into each other so we got together. Even at that age, 3 years is quite a gap. Now we're a couple for over 4 years (22-19) and nobody cares anymore. However, me being graduated as a teacher and she still being a student is pretty awkward. So... it all depends...

I'd say that so long as we're talking about people of legal ages, ethically, the age difference doesn't matter.... But in the real world, if there's too much of a difference, like if there's enough of a difference that one could be the others parent, one really needs to be sure of their motivations before getting too involved. The more difference, the more POTENTIAL there is for it being about a persons "Daddy" or "Mommy" issues.

Adrian ( Resident A-hole) · i agree. too large of a gap can be VERY damaging to a potential relationship. i'd view any age-gap around 15 years is pushing it since theoretically could be a parent/child age.

Noname1970

Noname1970 · No doubt!...... But as far as a one night or extended weekend thing... well, I'd be OK with that! ;-)

Adrian ( Resident A-hole)

Adrian ( Resident A-hole) · as it is, i'm dating a 42 y/o woman, and i'm 28........that is a challenging gap.....would be moreso if i didn't know so much!
