A Guide To Feminine Hygiene

Article

At different times in a woman’s life, her body begins to change. This change is first brought on by puberty, childbirth, and then menopause. These cycles in every woman’s life bring changes to the way her body looks and the way it functions. This includes a woman’s vagina. Even though many people worry about them, these changes are completely normal.
The Smell
Odor is a big worry to many women. As anyone can tell, there is a huge market for feminine products that will make you smell “fresher”. Many women can catch a whiff of their own scent, and this will cause them to worry even more that someone else can smell them. Under normal circumstances, no one should be able to smell any odors from your vagina. If you or someone else does, this could be a sign of a bacterial infection. In that case, you should seek medical help from your regular doctor or you gynecologist.
Douching
To douche, or douching, refers to the forcing of water or another chemical solution up the vagina for cleansing purposes. While some people use it as a means of dubious birth control, most women use it in an attempt to eliminate vagina “odors” that they perceive. Most doctors strongly recommend against this practice because it can harm the delicate pH balance of the vagina.
Sprays, Wipes, Etc.
The use of feminine sprays and wipes are not encouraged by doctors either. Such items are often drenched in perfume. The perfume can lead to allergic reactions, skin irritation, and other infections. The vagina has come equipped with its own special cleaning cycle, and alien cleaning products can upset this balance.
What Else Can You Do?
First and foremost, if you are experiencing an unusual vaginal odor or vaginal discharge, you need to see your gynecologist. You can use as many feminine products as you like, but you will be only be masking the symptoms of a larger problem. Now that we have established that most traditional feminine hygiene products are pretty much worthless, what can you do to keep yourself fresh? You can invest in several good pairs of cotton underwear. Cotton is a breathable fabric that discourages odors. Daily showers also help.  During your monthly cycle, change your sanitary products often. You can always keep an extra pair of panties with you in case of an accident.
