How to Avoid Getting Pregnant

Article

The joys of having a baby are only “joys” if you have the time, patience, and desire for a child. Otherwise the thought of getting pregnant might be downright scary. Avoiding pregnancy is never a bad thing as too many people go through life having careless sex with little worry about the consequences. The only real way to not get pregnant is to not have sex, but seeing that that idea no longer really fits with the trends of the time, it may just be best to offer some pregnancy avoidance tips. Here they are…
Understand your menstrual cycle
There are only a few days in the month that your egg is dropped and can be fertilized. Knowing when these days are can be tricky because many women do not have predictable pregnancies. For the most part though, you should be safe the week after your period. This does not mean that you should avoid contraceptives, but it does lessen the chances of fertilization. If you are one of the lucky few who has a period that follows a pattern, you may be safe to have sex the week before your period as well. Heed more caution at that time though.
Get on birth control
This one seems sort of obvious, like use a condom, don’t do drugs, bla bla bla. However it has to be stated. Birth control flushes out your system in a way that is almost completely effective. There are a lot of free clinics you can go to that will help you find affordable or free birth control options so you don’t necessarily have to cover the cost. Staying on a good regimen with your pills will ensure that they are working, so try not to skip any if you can. If you go three or four days without taking them, you’ll get a period too early and you’ll have to build everything back up again.
Avoid insertion
If you can stick to oral sex and hand jobs, you should be good to go in the no pregnancy department. Anal sex is sometimes a happy medium for everything because it is almost like vaginal insertion but it has no risk for pregnancy. Trying out other sex forms may be a nice change of pace for you, and as long as no cum gets into the vagina, you’re good to go. You can even play around in there for a bit with a condom, but you need to pull out well in advance so as to not risk dripping. It only takes one little ambitious sperm to make a baby.
Abstinence?
I alluded to this in the intro, but abstinence can and will prevent you from having a baby, if you’re up for it. There are always ways to have sex or something like sex without actually going inside each other, like mutual masturbation or 69s. Find something that you can both enjoy and mix it up a bit. Get new toys, new lubes, new people – whatever. Just don’t get pregnant!
