How to Buy the Right Jewelry for Your Wife

Article

For some reason it seems like being married only creates more headaches when it comes to picking out gifts. You’d think that because you know the person better, it would make things easier, but undoubtedly things end up ten times harder in the long run. For one, you’ve already used up your best gifts early on in the relationship, so now you’re left to ponder over the ideas that remain. For husband’s, jewelry always comes into play. Getting the right kind for your wife comes down to a bit of a science, so here are some things you can analyze in your quest for precious bling.
Metal
You need to know what kind of metal your wife likes her jewelry to be made out of. Some women love yellow gold, but others can’t stand it. Figuring out where your wife stands on that will be a big necessity. For the most part, women all over love white gold, so that may be something you look to as a fall back. It has the same universal look as silver, but it holds the same mental value as yellow gold. You should please her either way.
Stones
Most of the time, you are going to purchase something with a precious stone in it. All women love diamonds, yes, but sometimes it’s nice to give her something a bit more unique. If she has a pretty birth stone, consider purchasing a piece with that instead. Many women hate the way their birth stones look though, so be careful. Sapphires, rubies, emeralds and pearls typically go over well with women all over. There are exceptions though, so again, be careful.
Type of Jewelry
Take not of what kind of jewelry your wife wears most often, be it necklaces, earrings, rings, or something else. Most women have a preference that they abide by. For instance I wear earrings, but you’ll almost never see me with a necklace on. I also do not wear rings, other than my wedding ring, engagement ring, and my old promise ring. Thus it would be pointless to buy me a necklace or rings. Most women have something like that too. Get her something you actually see her wearing on a regular basis. It’ll show that you are observant and will thus go over a lot better.
Cost
This is a big one. As much as you want to spoil your wife, cost has to come into play. Since most things can be resized easily, getting a piece of used jewelry isn’t always a bad idea. Many places offer free cleaning as well, so you can rest assured that you are giving your wife something shiny and clean. Consider looking into sales in the area too as often times jewelry stores may run a 40% off sale. Clearance jewelry is also less expensive than the new stuff on the shelf, so check out all the ways you can save before running in tears after seeing a price tag.
