What is douching? You hear the term often in today’s society. People will often reference one another as douche bags. To douche is term reference a term that means the cleaning out of or rinsing of the vagina. Water or another chemical solution is forced into the vaginal cavity to clean away discharge or other contents. The reported health benefits of this practice are dubious.
What Is Douching

Again, the aim of douching is to cleanse the vagina of unwanted odors or other content. Douches usually consist of water or other chemical solutions. It is sort of like a car wash for your lady parts.  Douche kits are usually available over the counter in drugstores or pharmacies, and they come in a variety of scents. They can also be prescribed by a doctor to treat certain vaginal conditions.
Why Do Women Douche

The answer to this question can have a variety of reasons. Most women douche because they believe in unfounded myths or old wives’ tales about their body. They may douche in order to clean the vagina of blood at the end of their monthly cycle. It can also be used as form of birth control. The actual benefits of doing this as a birth control method are dubious. Or women may douche in order to reduce vaginal odor. If you have such an odor, you need to see your doctor as an odor can be a sign of infection or another serious problem.
 Is It Healthy
 The answer to this question is, essentially, no. According to published medical studies, douching can affect a woman’s chances of becoming pregnant each month. Regular douching can upset the chemical balance of the vagina which can cause the woman to become more susceptible to infections. It can also force bacteria up into the uterus or fallopian tubes. If these bacteria are left untreated, it can cause infertility in some women.

How Does The Vagina Clean Itself 
The secretions that many women attribute to odors are actually natural mucous secretions that are designed to clean out the vagina. It is alright to wash the outer area of the vagina. However, feminine soaps or sprays can potentially lead to painful irritation of sensitive tissues in the vaginal canal. Douching is strongly opposed by physicians and gynecologists.
