How To Hide a Hickey

Sex Tip

At the turn of the century the term “hickey”  usually referred to a birth mark or mole – usually one that the person who bore it tried to hide for whatever reason.  Over the years, however, the term has evolved to the point that it now refers to a “love bite” that manifests as a contusion or bruise that usually appears on the lips or, more commonly, the neck.  Hickeys might be fun to get and receive, but they can be a real pain to conceal once they appear – especially if you want to keep the extent of your amorous affection known just to you and your partner rather than the public at large.  There are, however, some techniques that you can use to minimize the appearance of or cover a hickey.
What you can do right away
If you discover a hickey immediately after receiving it, try putting ice on it.  This can often minimize the bruising on the affected area, but you have only a short time frame in which to apply the ice for it to be at all effective.
Use a little makeup to hide a hickey
Apply a concealer.  Green works best for most skin types and can be purchased at any retail outlet that sells cosmetics.  Be sure to blend thoroughly, though.  You don’t want to change a bruised neck for a Wicked Witch of the West splotch.
If the concealer alone doesn’t do the trick, try using a layer of cosmetic foundation in conjunction with it or on its own.   These products come in a variety of skin tones, so be sure to choose one that most closely matches or is one shade darker than your regular skin around the area, and remember to blend well.  If you go this route, be sure to wear a shirt with a neckline low enough that the foundation won’t rub off on it; otherwise, you’ll still have the tell-tale hints of a hickey.
Use money to hide the hickey without spending it
Use what is known as the “coin method.”  To employ this technique, pull the affected skin taut and scrape it as hard as you can (without, of course, injuring yourself) with the ribbed edge of the coin.  This technique can be successful because “pushes” the excess blood off the surface of the skin and forces it back down.  While this can be a very effective way of hiding (and sometimes removing) a hickey, it can also result in your skin being scraped; still, a scrape is easier to explain away than an obvious hickey.
Your last hiding resorts…
If none of the aforementioned tricks work, you’re going to have to resort to the old standby of concealing the bruise with more traditional methods.  Women can wear their hair down, which might provide enough coverage that the hickey won’t be obvious.  They might also accessorize with a strategically placed scarf that hides the contusion.  If these fail, the only remaining option for both men and women is to wear a shirt with a high collar.  Turtleneck tops are ideal, although you might have a hard time explaining them in the summer.
