The cherry - that oh so sacred mark of virginity. In reality, it is known as the hymen, a thin layer within the vagina that blocks semen from getting to an egg. During sex or other activities, that layer is broken to allow for full penetration. At one point in time, the existence of that “cherry” was the mark of being a virgin, but now there are a million different ways that could potentially break. Sex may not even be involved. Here are a few different situations that would cause your cherry to break.
Sex
This is the most common one, so let’s address it first. When you have sex for the first time, the tightness inside of you is bad enough. However, once a penis goes in a certain distance, it is going to hit that lining and cause it to break. This may come with some pain because it isn’t tissue paper thin. There will also be a release of blood in most cases, but not always. In either event, this method of cherry popping is not exactly pleasant, but it is necessary to have sex properly.
Sports
Believe it or not, too much sports activity can cause the cherry to pop as well. This is especially true for people who participate in sports that affect that area of the body, such as horseback riding. As the muscles are pulled, there is a chance for that lining to tear. You would feel the same pain and have the same basic bleeding as before.
Sex toys
This one is sort of obvious, but in case you didn’t know - toys can do just as much damage as a real penis can. If you stick a dildo in too far, you will break something. If it is your first time using the toy, try some lube out to make things slide in more easily. The rougher it is, the less pleasant it will be.
Tampons
This is a bit of an urban legend. In theory, you can break it by shoving a tampon up too hard, but the discomfort would most likely make you do otherwise. It would have to be a decent size tampon, and you’d have to apply it with force. It is completely possible to pop things this way, but it is not likely.
Final thoughts on popping cherry
Some women don’t ever go through that cherry popping experience. That could be because they popped it unknowingly, or they simply did not have a significant amount of pain or blood. Do not fear this event at all. It has to happen. You will never know the joy of sex without a tidbit of pain preceding.
