If you’ve been invited on a date and want to know how to find out if he or she is interested in you, one of the best ways to do so is through body language. Words may be able to express much of what a person feels or believes in, but sometimes reading the person’s body language can help you determine if he or she is lying, hiding something, and if he or she feels something strong and special for you. There are four basic senses that make up most of the body language: the sight, the touch, the stance, and other body movements. By learning how to read the movement of his arms and hands or the way she looks at you, you’ll be able to detect hints of what they think and what they feel about you or about the situation at hand. Here are some good examples on how to read body language based on the different senses:
Reading the eyes
Ever heard of the saying, “The eyes are the windows of one’s soul?” Well, it’s actually true in many ways. The expression in one’s eyes can already tell what his emotions are. When reading his eyes, try to see where they are darted whenever you are in a conversation with him. If he or she talks while keeping eye contact with you, then he or she is interested. If the eyes dart towards different places or he/she doesn’t keep the eye contact between you two, then he or she isn’t interested after all. The same can be said for people who are lying. If the person doesn’t maintain eye contact if you accuse him or her of something, then most likely he or she is lying and wants to hide the truth from you. Observing the movement and the expression also helps in determining if the person is telling the truth or not.
Reading the arms, hands, and touch
The way a person holds your hand can already say much about what he or she feels for you. Several dating magazines, for example, mentioned that if a man holds a woman’s hand with linked fingers, he may be feeling some kind of attraction for you but would still like to keep the distance in between. If he holds a woman’s hand with intertwining fingers, then he feels attracted to you, comfortable, and even protective over you. To be able to figure out what he or she feels for you, subtly try to link hands and see how they would react. You can also try playing with their fingers to see if they feel comfortable with your touch or not.
Reading the stance
The way a person stands when talking to you can already show just how interested he or she is or if he or she is in a hurry to go off somewhere else. If she is interested in you, normally she’d be facing directly towards you, her feet are in place, and her attention is basically on you. If she’s in a hurry to go but don’t want to seem impolite, she might be tapping her foot during the conversation, the position of her feet are pointing away, and she’d just nod and agree with you just to be able to end the conversation. Again, keep eye contact and observe carefully but discreetly the way the person positions his feet or how he stands to be able to crack the signals open.
Reading other body movements
Scratching the ears, chin, or the back of the neck may indicate a person’s lying to you. If your girlfriend puts her hands on her hips without saying a word, it most likely means she’s angry or upset with something you did. If a guy sits with his legs wide open and arms on the cushions of the couch during a conversation with you, he’s comfortable talking to you. You can read these signs by simply watching his or her movements, especially if the person doesn’t feel like sharing what he or she feels to you. Once you think they’re ready to open up, you can then open the conversation.
