Sometimes people go into a relationship under the preconceived notion that there are rules that have to be followed. These rules are usually not beneficial to anyone but they are just there. Take a look at this list of dating rules that can be broken and apply it to your own relationship.
Never Go To Bed Mad At Each Other
Sometimes when you get in a fight with your partner it is actually better to sleep on it and then continue the discussion the next day when both of you have cooled down. If you feel pressured to solve the issue in the same night just because you don't want to go to sleep angry then you will probably give up on the argument and end up with unresolved feelings. Sleeping on the issue will allow both of you to cool down and talk about the problem when it isn't so fresh, and you're not so heated.
Being In Love Means Never Having To Say You're Sorry
It does not matter if you're madly in love with someone, everyone makes mistakes. If you make a mistake that hurts your partner then they will appreciate an apology just like anyone else would. When you apologize it shows your partner that you have realized that you did something wrong and you're sorry for it – no relationship gives someone immunity to an apology.
You Can't Check Other People Out
Just because you have a boyfriend or girlfriend does not make you blind. It is natural human nature to notice a good looking person as they walk by, and that's not a blow to your partner. There is a difference between taking a second glance as someone walks by and drooling over them – obviously, ogling and drooling would be disrespect to your partner, but noticing is not. Make sure that you don't make a habit out of staring at other people because that will hurt your partner's feelings, but don't feel like you're cheating just because you notice a good looking person.
You Must Be 100% Honest At All Times
Honesty is one of the most important factors in a relationship but too much of a good thing becomes bad – don't be too honest! Don't tell your partner if they look fat, or if you think that their best friend is super hot! Ladies, if your boyfriend asks you if you have ever been with someone bigger (or better) than him, nothing good will come out of saying yes (even if it's the truth). There's no reason to reveal every detail about your day, to mention the girl or guy that hit on you, or your hot coworker that gives you the eye. If there's a serious issue at hand then it's important to be honest and you should never lie to your partner, but you don't have to be overly honest either.
You Must Love Everything About Your Partner
This rule must be a joke. Nobody is perfect and your partner is going to do things that get on your nerves. They will even have some personality traits that you probably hate but their good traits make up for those. You don't have to feel like your relationship is falling apart if something that your partner does gets on your nerves because that's real life. If you have several significant values and beliefs that contradict each other you might have a problem in the relationship but you don't have to love all of their habits.
