because we respect women and are too shy. assholes don't care and are just more aggressive. besides. assholes have more confidence and that naturally attracts women. I know the feeling and the situation. Be confident without being a douch and you will do better. at least when a woman comes along that can appreciate a nice guy!
For all involved, it is also important to note that there are those rare women who find nice guy traits to be charming, appealing, and downright sexy even. There are "nice girls" who struggle with the same situations. Douches do have that air of confidence about them, which makes them natural magnets for attention. That in no way means that you can't swoop in as the knight and shining armor and steal the show. You just have to wait for the right woman, however long that may take. She's out there though. We always are.

Of course not. You have to be somewhat proud of who you are or no woman is going to notice it at all. You have to sell the goods, but do so in a nice way. I wasn't detracting from anything you or others said above. Just wanted to point out that some women do see past the assholes sometimes.

Here's why (speaking as one of those "nice guys").
1. We're boring - assholes are way more exciting!
2. We don't act confident
3. We are too nice! I know, this is weird, but we keep buying drinks and presents and putting ladies on a pedestal, when we should not be doing that.
The most important thing you can do, is to be confident in yourself. Walk tall. And realize that you are the "catch", not the other way around.
