Ok so I was recently in a conversation in which the term "earning your red wings" was brought up. my girlfriend was the only one that knew what it meant. later that night she brought it up and after we talked about it for a little while she told me she had done it before. i told her i would be willing to try it. two questions:
1) Did i make a mistake in saying i would try it?
2) My friend told me she couldn't get pregnant even if we had unprotected sex. is this true?

It's up to you to decide whether or not you made a mistake in agreeing to do this & there's nothing wrong with backing out or wanting to try later rather than sooner. Communicate to your girlfriend what your wishes are. Be careful with unprotected sex, even if your girlfriend is menstruating, there is still a possibility she can get pregnant. So when in doubt, wrap it up!
Here are a few options to consider in "earning your red wings" that might help easing into it if you're still up for it: If your completely grossed out or not ready to go all the way, try eating her out while she has a tampon on and/or only lick her clit. Another option is fingering her or using a vibrator (No tampon on during these, obviously). You can have her bathe first or have sex in the bath/shower if you feel more comfortable. And remember, only do what you want & always practice safe sex whether she is menstruating or not!
