Recovering addict and sex drive.

Question

I don't know if anyone has ever had any experience or heard anything about my situation, but I thought I would ask anyway. I am a recovering heroin addict and have been clean for a couple of months. Besides all of the obvious negative consequences of drug use, the reason I am posting here is because using heroin has really screwed up my sex drive. When I was using, it completely got rid of my sex drive. Now I am not what you would think of as being an typical junky. I had a decent job, and I just finished undergrad last year, and I have been in a 3 year relationship with my girlfriend. At the start of my addiction, it actually made sex better for me, because it prolonged the amount of time I could go without orgasming, but after I sank deeper into drug use, it completely killed my sex drive. I was 22/23 and it completely killed my sex drive. Also 9 times out of 10 I couldn't get an erection. So this was really bad for our sex life and our relationship to say the least. Now that I am clean, I am able to fucntion sexually ( although for the first month of being clean everything that was suppressed during drug use rebounds during withdrawal so I would come with the smallest amount of stimulation.... quite literally.) more ore less, my sex drive is SLOWLY starting to come back.

I guess my main question is what can I do to better our sex life?

For one, thank you for sharing your story. I do hope that others can benefit from it.

As for improving your sex life, you guys probably just need to rejuvenate your sex life, starting from the basics. Plain jane oral, plane jane positions, maybe a little anal thrown in...you have to get things back on track. If you're looking for some new spice, I wouldn't do anything crazy just yet. Maybe try adding in a simple vibrating toy, a cock ring, or warming lubricant. Really, it's just a matter of changing things ever so slightly to get keep them interesting. In time, the wild stuff will happen.

In the mean time, I do wish you the best with staying off the drugs and on the hugs. Corny as that sounds, it's the truth. If anything, turn into a sex addict :-) Then we can talk about fun kinds of rehab.

Take care dear. Thanks again for sharing.
