That Vacation Was No Vacation

Question

Hi. I'm a 20 year old college student. I went on spring break just recently with my girls. We had a kickin' time. We drank till the sun came up and the whole 9. I confess, I did have unprotected sex with a guy while we were there. All I know is his first name, and I'm not even sure if he told the truth about that. I have no clue where he was even from. I just found out one other girl from our group gave him oral, and she has herpes! Can I get herpes this way? I'm very worried, and sorry I ever did such a stupid thing.

Herpes of the mouth can most definitely be transferred to the genitals. Unfortunately you are at risk for contracting herpes because you came into contact with his penis through unprotected sex. Herpes' symptoms can range from obvious outbreaks of sores and so on, to the lesser obvious like having a fever. I highly suggest you get tested a.s.a.p. It's better to be safe than sorry. You should be worried, but do not consider yourself stupid. Always have your own condoms on hand, no matter how wasted you are. As a young, modern woman, you need to be prepared and protected!

We all have moments of passion that cause us to draw down those inhibitions. Hell, it sounded like you had fun and this guy turned you on. So, remember, it seemed like a good night and you are not stupid. Also, even if you met someone whom you spoken to for hours and feel this deep connection for, even if he tells you that he's disease-free, it could be a lie unless he can show you his test results. Now, you need to move forward and get tested right away. You can contract herpes through genital, oral, or any other direct contact that allows for fluid transmission. There's also nothing to be worried about, except that your health is maintained. This disease may not be curable, but you can continue to live a normal life if you were exposed to it. While this is a scary moment in your sex life, it's not the end. And you don't know if you even have herpes yet. So, get tested (now!) and from there you can determine what you need to do next.

You're sorry and you should be. I don't mean to be a dick, but the truth is more effective than this "it seemed like a good night" bullshit.

I don't know why you're being told that you didn't act stupidly. You may not be a stupid person, but having unprotected sex with a dude you don't know is extremely stupid. Don't listen to these people who are just trying to make you feel better. You need the truth. It was stupid: plain and simple. There is no legitimate reason - none - to not protect yourself. Diseases are spread as a result of lack of education. What you need to do is learn from what you did, and take the necessary precautions in the future.

Again, you are not stupid; don't misconstrue my words. What's done is done, but please don't make the same mistake again...for your sake.
