Why is sex important in America?

Question

Like, why is it so taboo and hush-hush in America, but at the same time important?

Because we are a nation of hypocrites, duh.

Especially the Christian sector.

Haha, I like this question. Ironically religion does have something to do with it because America is torn right now between people of devout faith and those who are branching into atheism, or free thinking as I like to call it. I live in the Bible Belt, so sex is in fact hush hush around here. Most of my family doesn't know i work around here talking about sex 24/7 because they would likely disown me. I have friends who live in the coastal states though and they are much more open about sex there. It all depends on where you are and what your beliefs are.

Sex is becoming a bigger part of our culture every single day, and in time, we will be just as liberal about it as a lot of other nations. for now though, I think there is still some moral struggle with religion and the taboo nature of "the s word", as my mother referred to sex. As religion fades (not saying it should, but that's what's happening), so will this apparent hypocrisy. Either that, or sexual people will begin justifying their actions with their faith somehow. Who knows.
