How to Care for Sex Toys
By Heaven Stubblefield 10 months ago - [ Write a tip ]
Sex toys are amazing ways to enhance your time in the bedroom, but only if they are properly taken care of. Below is a guide that will allow you to do just that.
Inspect the toy before use
Inspect your new friend closely, searching for imperfections, out-of-place seams, tears, bulges, discolorations, and so on. Anything that seems like it could cause discomfort or looks unpleasant physically probably isn’t going to be pleasurable. This includes chips and cracks in glass items, as no one wants an ER visit related to such an injury. Imagine explaining that one!
Understand how to use the sex toy
Remember to insert batteries; after all, most toys aren’t any good without them! Read the directions, safety precautions, and suggestions; you may just learn something new about the product from that. Research online different techniques, styles and uses for your new buddy or pal. The toy may serve more purposes than one.
Storing sex toys
It is very important to remember to store your toys in a cool, dark, and dry place away from moisture, dust, or anything you do not want in, on, or around your vagina or anus. More specifically, store your toys in a safe compartment and always clean them both before and after use each and every time.
Cleaning sex toys
Here are a few different ways to clean and sanitize your toys for prolonged future life and use. (Note: Be sure to check the directions and materials specific to your sex toy before washing and cleaning.)
The easiest sex toys to care for and clean are those of the hypoallergenic variety. Toys that are silicone or otherwise do not require batteries are safe to boil, and this is generally the safest option for you since boiling kills the germs that cause infection. However, do not boil anything with electrical components.
Everything else – including acrylics, glass and some metals, are best cleaned with warm water and soap. You can also use disinfectants if you are sharing your sex toys. Additionally, you can boil glass and acrylic items as long as they are not battery operated.
Disinfect the toys
It is extremely important to keep in mind that sex toys – which are for the most intimate and sexual moments of your life and body – often come into contact with those with whom you are intimate as well; as such, they should still be completely disinfected. There is a way to disinfect and clean every form of sex toy out there. Take pride in and care of your toys by keeping them clean and sanitary; after all, this is the one part of your sex life you don’t want dirty.
If you don’t know what it’s made out of…
If you are not sure what your toy is made out of, product-wise, than your best bet is to play it on the safe side by using warm water and soap. However, don’t submerge the toy in water unless you are 100% sure there are no electronic components or batteries.
Once your sex toy has been cleaned properly, you are going to want to have a safe and secure hiding place of your own. To keep everything safe and clean, store each toy separately. You can use a small hand towel to wrap each item individually, or a sock often works well.
