How To Know When You Should Dump Your High School Boyfriend

Alright, high school relationships are tricky. They are much more fleeting than those of the “real world”, and it’s quite possible that any relationship you get into could end by the next period. Figuring out whether or not you should dump your boyfriend in high school is especially tough because let’s face it, you’re probably an emotional wreck. Clouded judgment may cause you to dump a decent guy, or even worse, keep a crappy one. Here are some signs to look for to know when you need to dump your high school boyfriend.

Sign 1 – He constantly complains...about everything!

When your boyfriend starts complaining that he notices you putting on some weight or says that you should skip that sandwich because you’re getting fat, you should consider leaving him. If he just can’t stand anything you do, can’t even appreciate the things you do for him and worries that it’s taking you a long time just to get ready to leave, this are signs that even if you looked like Britney Spears, he just wouldn’t be satisfied anymore. Let him know that you think you’re fine just the way you are, and if he doesn’t like it, he can leave.

Sign 2 – He wants you alone on dates

If he starts to sound like he’s upset whenever you go out with friends or family, or he makes unrealistic demands like he just don’t want to be with anyone but you, you may think about dumping him. Don’t get caught with this guy. He wants you all alone for himself. You’re young…you’re SUPPOSED to go out and have fun. He needs to accept that. Don’t give up cheerleading or the debate team or anything else just because he wants you all to himself. If you see these situations, its time to say goodbye and say hello and explore the world with people who really care for you.

Sign 3 – He’s a super jealous type of guy

At first, it’s cute when he says that he just can’t stand it when he sees you with other guys. It tells you how truly special to him maybe just too special. But there’s a big problem when he gets JEALOUS constantly. If he’s not secure enough with your relationship to trust you to talk to someone else, get rid of him. If you feel that your constantly being watched and can’t even eat or make a phone call to your friends without feeling guilty or being accused of a crime, then you should just drop the guy and look for another one.

Sign 4 – He constantly blames you for everything

Have you ever had this happen: You caught him with another girl on a date and he blames you for it. That’s a classic situation and a quick sign that he’s not ready for a relationship. You’re in high school, so of course you’ll both probably flirt with other people, but if he gets mad at YOU because HE was flirting, then there’s a problem. He may blame you for a lot of other things too, like most of your fights. If you are at fault, then admit to it, but if he blames you just because he’s not mature enough to take responsibility for hiss actions, then dump him.

Sign 5 – You hear him constantly swearing during dates

Don’t let anyone swear or badmouth you. Sometimes high school guys think it’s cool to curse because it makes them seem rebellious, but really, it’s just a tacky sign of immaturity. If your partner starts to act violently or shouts at you, start thinking of getting out of that relationship. If he constantly swears and every sentence starts or ends with a curse, you may want to think of a more well mannered partner. Of course, if you don’t mind cursing much, that may not be a problem, but if he can’t respect you enough to talk to you nicely, then find somebody else.

Sign 6 - During a fight, he starts hitting you

Don’t ever allow another person to harm or hurt you, and if he even starts to show that he intends to hurt you ,drop the guy. Ka boom! Ka pow! That’s not from a comic page. You just got hit by superman. Unless your Lex Luthor hiding in a girls body, you should definitely ditch this guy. If everything I’ve mentioned above doesn’t give you a reason to ditch him this would be it, whether you’re in high school or not. There are laws against it, so the least you could do is love your life and go for the nearest exit.
