There comes a point in every woman’s life that she realizes that she isn’t looking any younger and the men in her life aren’t looking any older.  The fact is men and women age differently, but there is something you can do about it without “going under the knife.” Here are a few tips that may create the illusion of youth without the cost of surgery.

Get a whiter smile

Brighten up your smile.  As a general rule, our teeth tend to yellow with age.  However, thanks to dentists and your local grocery store, there are some ways to fight this.  Although having your teeth bleached in your dentist’s office may be more expensive up front, it will last a little long than the grocery store variety bleaching kit.

Add some color to your wardrobe

Add some color to your life.  We have been taught for ages that the little black dress is the way to look slimmer and younger.  Slimmer? Yes.  But what about the little red dress or green dress?  By adding color to your outfit, you give the impression of a younger, flirtier you as well as brightening up your skin. Also, find a color than goes great with your skin tone and hair. Also, don’t be afraid to add a little color to your hair and talk to your favorite stylist about a new modern cut with some chunks of color.  Not only will the new style give that pep in your step, but some well placed highlights can give a young appearance.

Don’t try to cover age with heavy makeup

Lighten up on the makeup.  If possible, avoid using powder makeup at all.  The powder will settle into the fine lines that are developing and actually make you look older.  Also, trade in your classic tan tone lipstick for a gloss or shimmer. This will actually pull your natural pink lip color out.  Finally, using a lighter shade of eyeliner or eye shadow can give you face the impression of light.

Stay out of the sun

The sun is not your friend.  Nothing looks hotter than tanned skin, but tanning also pulls the moisture from your skin adding to wrinkles and giving it a leathery appearance.  So, whenever in the sun make sure you use sunblock.  However, if you still want that beautiful golden tan, self-tanners are safe from damaging UV rays and usually have great moisturizers in them that will give you that young beautiful glow.

Keep your body fit

Stay in shape.  When you were young, you probably had a gorgeous, fit body.  Over time this fades, however, staying in shape can give the illusion of youth.  Whether you join a jog, join a yoga class or power kick boxing, find time to maintain your body.  Also, eating healthy will not only keep those few extra pounds off, but also give your skin more elasticity, thus giving you back your youthful look.

Also, keep in mind that the key to aging is doing it with grace and style.  No one looks 20 forever.  The idea is not to look a specific age, but rather to look younger than your age.
