In public, don't be shy. Be proud of who you are with and tell any people who judge to screw off. The more confident you are, the less people will stare.
In bed, start calling the shots early on. You make the move to kiss her, push her on the bed, undress her, caress her body, go inside her, etc. Let her know that you are in charge. She may like you being in charge because chances are she has been the dominant one in past situations. Just be sure to please as you get pleased, and you should be fine :)
