Swollen Clit

I've been dating this guy for a few months now and we've been having sex pretty frequently. When I do, however, my clitoris afterward is very swollen. It doesn't happen all of the time and I'm never really if it's going to happen that night or what. The swelling does go down over time, but when I do have a swollen clit, it is the such an uncomfortable experience. I have to be careful when I'm sitting or walking. The slightest bit of friction can send a chill up my spine. And God forbid I bump into a door or chair, then the sensation is so intense that it's hard for to hide what's going on. I don't really know how to make the swelling go down, and my friends have had swollen vaginas after rough sex but they seem to be fine afterward. Me, not so much. So, what should I do? How can I prevent my clit from swelling up after sex?

During sexual activity, it is normal for the clitoris to swell and become sensitive. However, after you have sex, this should go back down, and even though it might be sensitive, it should not cause you this much pain. If you are having average to slightly rough intercourse, this still shouldn’t be a factor in the swelling that lasts this long, unless you are doing something that specifically focuses on your clit for hours and is painful while you are doing it. You need to see your primary physician or gynecologist to check out and see if you have something else going out that can be treated. There are many types of bacteria that can get into your vagina, and can cause various areas to swell and be irritated. The time you would most feel this is after sex. I am not talking about STDS, but various things we girls get from bacteria that finds its way. You may have something called Generalized vulvodynia or vulvar vestibulitis syndrome. These types of things can show up anytime, and symptoms include either burning or pain to the touch. They are NOT STDS or transmitted sexually, but can be the result of nerve damage, an allergy, or various other factors. The bottom line: go see a doctor. He or she will be able to figure out what it is and help ease your mind AND your body.

I've had the same thing happen to me, but it has never stayed for a long period of time, the swelling normally goes down in an hour or so after sex.

When having sex, try lube. It sounds like there may be to much friction going on. That, or try a different position.
